IF YOU ARE NOT A STUDENT AT COLGAN HIGH SCHOOL, DO NOT SUBMIT. YOUR PIECE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AND WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY REJECTED AND DELTETED FROM OUR SUBMISSION MANAGER.
Welcome to the submission manager for Colgan High's literary journals: Siren and The Megalodon. All Colgan HS students are welcome to submit; only Colgan HS students may submit. Only one sumbission may be made at a time.
Do not include any identifying information, such as name or email, on your document.
All SUBMISSIONS
12-point font,
Times New Roman (scripts may use Courier)
1 in margins
Must include title, email, and the name + content warnings, if applicable
Original work, no fanfiction. Avoid allusions or being referential
As few grammatical errors as possible
PROSE
Double-spaced
Indent for paragraphs (don't leave extra white space between paragraphs)
Proper punctuation
Left-aligned
Max 5000 words
SCRIPT
Formatted following current industry standards (we recommend using a program such as Celtx to format)
Proper punctuation
Max. 10 pages per submission
POETRY
Single-spaced
No center-aligned poetry
Max. 4 pages per submission (can be separate poems)
JAIL-WORTHY (AUTOMATIC REJECTIONS)
"Orbs"
Over-clique of water-related themes
Excessive cursing, gore/blood, violence, graphic themes
Complete lack of realism when it comes to medicine/injury — when it becomes obvious is where the problem starts
The glamorization of troubling subjects (Eating Disorders, Self-harm, addiction, etc.)
Slurs or hate speech of any kind
Fan fiction or YN (your name) stories.
By submitting, you are agreeing to any edits required for grammar, clarity, concision, or space. Pieces that need significant revisions may be returned to the author and not officially accepted or declined until revisions are received.
